Ikea
The cheapest! You’ll find stuff at a really good price! Even though the quality isn’t the best. Cheap material. You may find good and useful stuff for the kitchen and decor in general.
If you come back to Manhattan in the Ikea ferry: keep in mind that everything you purchase should fit in the big blue bag that they give you. You can carry more than one of those bags.
Location: 1 Beard St. in Brooklyn. It’s far from Manhattan.
How to go: take the Ikea Ferry from Financial District. It’s free on weekends. $5 on weekdays but if you buy something in store of $10 or more, they give you $5 credit on your purchase (or a free ticket back to Manhattan by ferry). Keep the ticket of the Ikea water taxi!
It can take you a whole day to go there and shop. I wouldn’t recommend it for those who come to NY for only a few days.

- Midtown East: 725 Lexington Ave. (between 58th & 59th St.)
Home Decor in Big Chain Stores: Modern & Vintage
Century 21
The store located in Financial District is better, much bigger and with more variety than the one at the Upper West Side!

Very cheap stuff. Go to the home section. Sometimes they have really cool frames and stuff for your home, modern and vintage that you won’t find at any other place. They don’t have a big variety of stuff but you may find pretty cool things.
Locations:
- Union Square: 14th St. between Union Square West & Union Square East. At the top floor of DSW (right next to Forever 21).
- Chelsea: 707 Avenue of the Americas (between 22nd & 23rd St.)

Macy’s
You may find good stuff for your home. Prices are average, not that cheap but not so expensive either. You’ll find more contemporary and “classic” stuff. I prefer going to Century 21, West Elm or Bed Bath and Beyond.
Location: 34th St. between Broadway & 7th Avenue. They have entrances on 7th Ave, Broadway and on 34th St.
