An awesome app to make Free Restaurant Reservations easily! You can search restaurants by the name or location, choose the date, time and amount of people.

You don’t wanna get disappointed if you really want to go to a specific restaurant and there’s no availability when you go. Use this app and problem solved! Especially if you’re going to have dinner at around 8pm.

Yelp

You can search restaurants, bars, coffee & tea, spas that are close to where you are located. You can also set up a specific neighborhood (e.g. Restaurants in Soho) and look for reviews.

FOOD DELIVERY

Seamless

Order food delivery from the restaurants that are close to your location. Depending on the address you put, you’ll see a list of restaurants that are open at the time you want to place an order.

Domino’s

Download on the App StoreGet it on Google Play

A famous pizza place because is very cheap and you can see on the app in what step of the delivery process they are (e.g. in the oven, on the way). You can build your own pizza! (I recommend you to add triple cheese).

Check the “coupons” section on the app because they usually have great deals and you can get a medium pizza for only $6!

GrubHub

Download on the App StoreGet it on Google Play

Very similar to Seamless: order food delivery from local restaurants.

NEED A TAXI?

These apps are good if you want to request a taxi from your phone (different from the yellow cabs on the streets). You set up location, destination. No need to be on the streets looking or waiting for a taxi. You don’t have to pay the driver since you pay directly from the app (including the tip!).

Uber, Lyft and Juno are all good. Usually the drivers work with all of them so it’s kind of the same!

You can download the map to check it offline from your phone whenever you want. This is very useful if you don’t have wifi at all time while you’re in NYC.

You can use it to know how to get by subway from one location to another. I use Google Maps all the time to check how to go by subway to certain places and how long is the trip.

  2. Open Google Maps App
  3. Type on the search bar: New York, NY
  4. Touch at the left of the search bar to see the menu. If you are not signed in, touch on sign in to be able to download maps
  5. Go to Offline Areas and touch the “plus” button to add an offline map
  6. Confirm that the area you want to download is New York

New York is magical and you have to be open to everything because you never know who is sitting next to you on the subway or behind you in the line of the supermarket. I decided to create this blog about NYC because I realized how many powerful tips would have helped me if I knew them before coming to the city from someone who was living in NY! So I thought that it would be awesome to share with you some tips about New York from a New Yorker. I'm going to keep updating this blog so stay tuned :)
